Stone Town is the oldest town on Zanzibar Island. It is a fine example of an outstanding manifestation of a Swahili and Arab cultural fusion town in East Africa. Stone Town is located in the western coast of Ungunja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago.Stone Town is a beautiful place with winding streets, beautiful architectural Arab buildings, bustling bazaars, mosques and several hotels and resorts. The town was formed back in the 19th century making it one of the oldest towns in Zanzibar. Stone Town was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2000.

One of the main attractions in Stone Town is Nakupenda Beach where turquoise waters overlap powder white sands offering the ultimate 'paradise' experience.
The Old Fort is another favourite with history lovers and the grounds are abuzz with market stalls and souvenir shops.
The Palace Museum reflects the intriguing history of the town and for a reasonably priced entrance fee, visitors can spend many hours marvelling at the exhibits.
